During the early days Allama Prabhu began developing and printing photographs for his personal use to exhibit his works extensively in photographic exhibitions, as he was unable to find labs locally that provided consistent photographic services. He set-up a darkroom for his personal work and began participating in numerous international photographic competitions. Having attained great success and grown in popularity due to regular coverage in newspapers, magazines and television. He soon received requests from his friends and many professional photographers to commercially provide services to them as well. Owing to the popularity, he setup Prabhu Photos in Brigade Road, Bangalore in 1972.
