Once the war ended in 1943, he shifted to Vizag and began exploring new avenues to earn. Pedaling his newly acquired bicycle, he started selling sarees door to door in the nearby villages. With the income thus generated, he could eventually set up a small shop in the old town area. One of the first to be established during that period, his shop gained popularity in no time. This success was justifiably attributed to his ability to present a wide variety of sarees to local women who had very little choice. He won a robust applause for his diligent efforts, especially for his competence to source sarees from far off places like Chennai, Salem, Kanchipuram, Thanjavur, Pochampally, Dharmavaram and Mumbai, that too in an era when there were no rapid travel modes.
